Concept of the Sacred Atlas — Living Lands Guardians

Our world on this Earth is, first and foremost, a more-than-human world — a living realm of nature, landscapes, and biodiversity. Together, they form the foundation for a balanced and sustainable human life. Humanity, in turn, has cultivated a unique culture of interaction with the surrounding world — a culture rooted in deep awareness and the intuitive understanding of the essence of the non-human realm. Nature itself, endowed with consciousness and wisdom, has responded by blessing, guiding, and teaching humankind to live in harmony with it.

The Sacred Atlas — Living Lands Guardians reveals the points of connection between Indigenous Peoples and their sacred totemic animals, plants, and landscapes. These relationships, grounded in ancient traditions and ancestral wisdom, embody a cultural and spiritual dialogue that sustains harmony between humans and the living Earth.

The Atlas brings together stories, traditions, and artistic expressions inspired by iconic representatives of sacred geography and biodiversity. Each element has been reinterpreted by young Indigenous creators who continue to nurture their cultural practices and relationships with the animal and plant worlds.
Through this project, we seek to share our totemic animals — to show their profound significance not only for our communities but for the planet as a whole. Through traditional narratives, folklore, rituals, and art, we offer our vision and understanding of these beings as guardians of balance and sources of life.

This Atlas is not a static collection of knowledge — it is a living, sacred map-network, pulsing with the energy of nature and the cosmos. The points on this map are not merely geographic locations or coordinates, but energetic nodes through which the harmony of the universe unfolds.

In this first edition of the Atlas, we present six totemic animals — the snow leopard, whale, salmon, camel, horse, and deer. Each carries within it ancient wisdom and the essence of life itself. Despite their diverse habitats, these beings are interconnected through a shared field of energy, collectively sustaining the balance of life on Earth.
They are the guardians of the planet — and we, as humans, are called to become their allies, entering into a deeper, more conscious relationship with them.
